A final blend of 70% Merlot and 30% Cabernet Franc, the 2017 Hosanna is deep garnet-purple in color with a nose that simply sings of violets, chocolate-covered cherries and exotic spices with a core of crème de cassis, fragrant earth and blueberry pie plus a waft of wild thyme. Very attractive aromas of violets, purple cherries and plums with notes of chocolate, cedar and baking spices. The palate has a fullish feel with very concentrated, ripe dark plums, wrapped in super long, silky tannins. Quite a deep, flavorful finish, holding long and fresh.

The 2017 Hosanna was one of my favourite crus from Ets J-P Moueix from barrel. Now in bottle, it remains a delightful Pomerol. It has a generous and beautifully defined bouquet with ample red cherry, crushed strawberry and light black truffle aromas that are actually reminiscent of Bélair-Monange. The palate is medium-bodied but denser, thicker than its peers. There is real substance to this Hosanna that puts the relatively lightweight Certan-de-May in its place. It shows good grip with a saline finish. This is a deeply impressive Hosanna. Rejoice! www.vinous.com

The 2017 Chateau Hosanna is a wonderful wine in the vintage, offering more pleasure and sexiness than most out there. Based on 80% Merlot and 20% Cabernet Franc, it sports a deep ruby/purple hue to go with fabulous notes of creme de cassis, black raspberries, crushed flowers, Asian spices, and incense. With a kiss of background oak, medium to full body, a silky texture, and stunning length, it's a classic, flawlessly balanced Pomerol to enjoy over the coming two decades.

Tiny Mouiex-owned Pomerol estate which produces famously smoky, supple and attractive wines. Dense quite exotic fruit, ripe plum and a hint of blueberry, with some cool minerality underlining the fruit. Packed and stacked with pretty serious tannins, carrying a weight of rich fruit and some fine mineral content. Finishes a little dry. - April 2018

The 2017 Hosanna is a big, deep wine, as it often is, and yet it also comes across as more delicate and translucent than is typically the case. Plush contours and silky tannins add to the wine's racy, voluptuous feel. In two separate tastings Hosanna was quite subdued, but that is not necessarily a bad thing for this typically exuberant, bold Pomerol.
