Tasting Notes and Scores
Bordeaux Index
The Labégorce was picked from 19th until 24th September, a blend of 50% Cabernet Sauvignon, 45% Merlot, 3% Cabernet Franc and 2% Petit Verdot aged in 40% new oak. It has an attractive, typical Margaux-like bouquet with fine minerality and deftly integrated oak. The palate is well balanced with crisp acidity, not a heavyweight or opulent Margaux but it is supremely focused with a delectable, feminine poised finish that is fresh and natural. Tasted twice with consistent notes. – eRobertParker.com, May 2012

A mix of perfumy floral notes out front is backed by a core of sappy blackberry and plum fruit. Velvety in feel, with an accessible but sneakily long finish. Best from 2015 through 2025. 10,000 cases made. – James Molesworth (WineSpectator.com, March 2014)

This is very chewy with a tar, berry and dark-chocolate character. Full body. Intense finish. Dusty-textured tannins. Needs time to come together. Try in 2017. – jamessuckling.com, Feb 2014

A modest, but well-endowed, potential sleeper of the vintage, this 2011 Labegorce comes from an estate that has been revealing signs of a qualitative turn-around. From a challenging vintage, the deep ruby/plum/purple-tinged 2011 exhibits sweet black cherry and black currant fruit, a generous mouthfeel, medium body, ripe tannin and excellent depth as well as purity. Drink it over the next decade. Drink: 2014 - 2024
