Tasting Notes and Scores
Tasted at the offices of Ets J-P Moueix, to be honest, I actually prefer the aromatics on the Lafleur-Gazin to the Belair-Monange tasted alongside. Here, I find the aromas more defined, showcasing some lovely pure dark cherry and plum-infused fruit that is neatly integrated with the oak. The palate is medium-bodied with a firm grip. This is quite a bold Lafleur-Gazin – quite masculine with a firm backbone and although it does not quite possess the persistency on the finish, I think this will mature very well. Tasted November 2012.

Always a somewhat rustic style of Pomerol, the 2010 merits one of the highest ratings I have ever given this vineyard. With considerable opulence, a chocolate, mocha, black cherry and berry spectrum of aromas and flavors, medium to full-bodied and a macho, masculine feel to it, this wine has more finesse than normal, but never loses its relatively powerful, chunky style. Drink it over the next 10-15 years. Drink: 2013 - 2028
