[60CS/30M/10PV provisional] A striking, crisply, sweetly ripe, floral fruit on the nose, which feels as though it will make a lovely bouquet; concentrated, vital, linear wine with a firm tannin sinew, a fine overall, long term balance; very Cabernet in flavour, long, linear classy and complete with a long sweet fruited finish. This is an excellent effort from this estate at the southern end of the Medoc. A tell-tale, seductive, round, medium to full-bodied style is present in this forward, precocious, delicious wine with plenty of charm and finesse. Medium-bodied with sweet tannin and plenty of toasty, black currant and loamy soil notes intermixed with hints of spice box and vanillin are present in this nicely textured, complete, attractive effort. Drink it over the next 12-15 years.

This property has been making excellent wines under the administration of Caroline Frey, and 2012 continues their recent success. With a deep ruby/purple color, notes of new saddle leather, graphite, blackcurrants and black cherries, a supple texture, medium to full body and beautiful purity, this is an outstanding 2012 to drink over the next 20 years. In general, the blend tends to be approximately 60% Cabernet Sauvignon and the balance 25% Merlot followed by 15% Petit Verdot.

Pretty nose, red fruit and florality, with some depth or earthy complexity. Good soft mouthfeel and structure; ripe plum and blackcurrant with hints of mocha and pencil lead. Classy.

Pure dark fruit with cedary notes. Soft, gentle and very approachable but slightly sour on the finish. (JH)
