Tasting Notes and Scores
Dense purple, with notes of blackberry, white chocolate, mulberry and toasty oak, this is a full-bodied, massive, rich, thick and unctuously textured wine with outstanding purity, richness and headiness. Of course, there’s always criticism that wines like this don’t age, but I own the 2000, and it is still an infant at 13 years of age, so I don’t think that’s an issue. This wine needs a good 5-6 years of cellaring and should keep for 20-25 years at the minimum. Drink: 2018 - 2043
This tiny garagiste estate has produced a wine from 80% Merlot and 20% Cabernet Franc from what is considered the best parcel of the larger Fombrauge vineyard, where the harvest occurred in mid-October. There are only about 500-600 cases of it. It is clearly a modern, rather internationally styled wine, but it is impeccably well-made.

2010: Harvested extremely late (October 11, 12, 13), this blend of 80% Merlot and 20% Cabernet Franc saw 100% new oak, aging on its lees and neither fining nor filtration. The product of visionary Bernard Magrez, it boasts an opaque purple color in addition to copious notes of espresso, white chocolate, blueberries, boysenberries and blackberries. Full-bodied, tannic, youthful and loaded with potential, it may merit an even higher score in a few years. Drink it over the next 20 years. The debut vintage, the 2000, is awesome at age 10 with at least another decade or more of improvement ahead of it.
Wine Advocate
Lots of ripe fruit and new wood in this young wine. It's full-bodied, with super integrated tannins and a long finish. Very Californian in style yet remains fresh and clean at the finish like Bordeaux -- as always. Opulent. Better in 2018.
