The 2019 Pastourelle de Clerc Milon is a gorgeous Pauillac with tons of near and medium-term appeal. Juicy dark cherry, plum, chocolate, new leather, spice and menthol flesh out in this succulent, deliciously forward Merlot-based Pauillac. As always, Pastourelle is not sold en primeur, but only in bottle and a few years after the harvest, when the château deems it ready to drink.

Supple and perfumed, the 2019 Pastourelle de Clerc Milon bursts with aromas of violets, rose petals and sweet berry fruit. Medium to full-bodied, ample and charming, it's a supple, giving wine that will drink well on release.

66% Merlot, 23% Cabernet Sauvignon, 11% Cabernet Franc. Barrel sample. Fresh and juicy with the accent on the fruit. Light, fine tannins. A bit loose-limbed for a Pauillac but clean and very drinkable. (JL)
