Tasting Notes and Scores
The second wine of L’Eglise-Clinet is pure Merlot aged in 50% new oak. It displays great precision on the nose with scents of wild strawberry, blood orange and a hint of tangerine, all with sizzling definition and zest. This is so lively and “animated”. The palate is medium-bodied: lifted on the entry with dense dark berry fruit laced with crushed stone and a touch of black tea. Like all of Denis Durantou’s 2010, this is underpinned by extraordinary freshness and vitality, whilst the finish has immense precision. Tasted November 2012.

Meaty nose with dark ripe fruit and a touch of smoke. Opens up with violets, chalk and cherry blossom. Full-bodied and intense on the palate with polished tannins and a long soft finish. Juicy and pure. Drinks well already, but will of course soften with time. Second wine of Pomerol's sensational L'Eglise Clinet. Better in 2017.

[100M] Fine black fruit concentration to smell; rich, concentrated wine with a lively acidity and fine, firm tannin; long, sweet, pure core of fruit, vital in the ‘blackcurrant and lemon’ style, warm, moderately complex, and with very nice length. A gentle glow on the aftertaste, so not exactly refreshing, but good balance in this year’s atypical style. 2016-26 [M.Schuster, Bordeaux Mar/Apr 2011]
