A backward nose: powerful, broody with layers of black fruits. The palate is muscular and dense, very concentrated with well-integrated tannins. There is a touch of Musigny about this. Very animally but with superb elegance and refinement. Grand Vin! Tasted January 2004.

Cask sample. Reticent on the nose. Very sumptuously, if only vaguely, fruity on the palate. Some strawberries and quite a bit of oak creeps in on the finish. Slightly too oaky? (JR)
