Tasting Notes and Scores
The 2018 Chassagne-Montrachet La Romanée 1er Cru, raised in around 20% new oak, has an open and more airy bouquet compared to the Grands Montagne. Yet with aeration it manifests subtle aromas of stem ginger and even a hint of fresh rhubarb. The palate is beautifully balanced with a perfect line of acidity, wonderful poise and subtle apricot, orange pith and saline notes toward the pixelated finish. If you can’t afford the red La Romanée, choose this white alternative.

Cooler site than La Grande Montagne. Could also be called Grande Montagne, apparently. Lovely creamy nose, slightly mealy and lactic. Depth and intensity and a long, cool and rather delicate finish. Sour-fresh citrus on the palate, not as intense as the Grande Montagne. More silky. (JH)
