Tasting Notes and Scores
The cream of the lineup is the 2014 Mazis-Chambertin Grand Cru. This total stunner offers a layered, deep, incredibly seamless, medium to full-bodied profile as well as a gorgeous perfume of black raspberries, flowers, violets, and a chalky/limestone-like minerality. Showing more smoke and earth with time in the glass, this heavenly 2014 never puts a foot wrong, with vibrant yet integrated acidity, silky tannin, and a great finish. Give it 2-4 years and enjoy over the following two decades or more.

Dark red. Aromas of medicinal cherry, menthol, smoke and crushed rock, plus a suggestion of red fruits macerated in alcohol. Superconcentrated but youthfully tight, showing a slightly medicinal character to its penetrating flavors of blackberry and blueberry. This tactile but very backward wine could hardly be more different from the Griottes. Finishes very long and firmly tannic but not a bit dry.

The 2014 Mazis-Chambertin Grand Cru has a very pure raspberry and wild strawberry nose with hints of undergrowth and cold stone coming through with aeration. The palate is medium-bodied with supple tannin, redcurrant and cranberry fruit, spicier than the Griotte-Chambertin with impressive density and persistence on the finish. This actually shades the Clos-de-Bèze at the moment.
