Tasting Notes and Scores
The 2017 Chambolle-Musigny Les Bussières 1er Cru, which includes 20% whole bunches, offers pretty raspberry and wild strawberry scents and hints of rose petal. The palate is medium-bodied with supple tannin, gently gripping on the front of the mouth. The slightly firm, rigid finish will require three or four years to mellow.

Barrel sample. Next to Roumier’s Clos de la Bussière in Morey. Half a hectare from his grandfather. Average age 50 years. On the border between Morey and Chambolle. 20% whole bunch. Mid crimson. Refined dark-red fruit, almost a little dusty/stony on the nose, in a good way. Just a hint of Morey’s pepper. Juicy and gentle, rather delicate on the palate but balanced and persistent in its freshness. (JH)
