Brighter medium red. Plum and cherry on the nose. Supple in the mouth, with attractive ripeness of fruit and the best depth of these 2001s. Possesses limited flesh and sweetness but finishes with riper tannins and decent persistence.

Hail at the start of August but Clos des Ducs was protected by the village so yields were a healthy 35 hl/ha. Harvest 26 September, pH 3.25. Firm and very typical Clos des Ducs. Fine acidity and freshness with great race and line. Super-pure and disciplined. (JR)
