Tasting Notes and Scores
Good medium red. Raspberry, strawberry and spice aromas were initially a bit dulled by oak, but aeration brought some of the floral high notes shown by the other Pacalet '15s. Then juicy, spicy and herbal on the palate, showing modest flesh and restrained sweetness and a youthfully medicinal quality. A distinctly peppery, dry Nuits-Saint-Georges with a firm dusting of tannins and good length. A bit austere in the context of this collection but with no shortage of cherry and dark berry intensity. This needs a good three or four more years of cellaring.

Cask sample. 2008 onwards. Very little clay. 12,000 vines per ha. 65-70 years old. Liqueur nose. Very seductive. Dries a little towards the end. Needs lots of time. Bright fruit. (JR)
