Tasting Notes and Scores
Nathalie Tollot told me that they lost around one-quarter of the 2013 Corton Grand Cru because of hail. It has quite a strong oak influence on the nose, although Nathalie Tollot suggested that it was accentuated by the low temperatures in the cellar. The palate is nicely balanced with supple tannins and a keen thread of acidity. The oak is more “contained” here and there is fine mineral presence on the taut finish.

Medium red. Fresh, dark aroma of cassis. Ripe but not overripe, showing a touch of sweetness from the 50% new oak. Nicely round but given lift and inner-mouth tension by sound acidity. Dark fruit and saline mineral flavors show a medicinal reserve. Finishes with a firm dusting of tannins and licorice and floral accents. This grand cru should gain in complexity with time in bottle. Nathalie Tollot noted that this is always a broader-shouldered style than the Bressandes.
