The 2019 Savigny-lès-Beaune Village includes 80% whole bunch from village cru Fourneaux and also from Connadises. It has a lovely bouquet – very pure, with crushed strawberry and rose petal aromas and just a touch of vanilla in the background. The medium-bodied palate has a rounded texture, touches of marmalade infusing the dark berry fruit, and a touch of bitter cherry on the finish. Recommended.

Just racked, so only a year in cellar then it will be rested 4–6 months before bottling. Blend contains one barrel of premier cru (equivalent to 3%). Mostly two vineyards, one on the flat side of the appellation, and a third the village part of Les Fourneaux with lots of Pinot Fin. 25% whole bunch and no new oak. Transparent crimson. Quite rich – even black-cherry – flavours, with real freshness. Crisp and lively tannins. Another crunchy wine. (JR)
