The 2006 Taittinger Comtes de Champagne Rosé is at once rich and refined, a simply fabulous Champagne Rosè I won’t soon forget. Intensely perfumed, with the Pinot Noir-derived red berry and cranberry flavors that are not just concentrated, but also remarkably pure. It is one of the better Rosé bubbles I have had in the last year.

Taittinger's 2006 Comtes de Champagne Rosé has come along nicely over the last six months. Intensely perfumed, Pinot-inflected aromatics carry through the mid-palate and finish as the 2006 shows off its depth and pure energy. Veins of chalky minerality give the red berry and cranberry flavors an extra kick of energy. The 2006 is both powerful and delicate at the same, with crystalline precision and fabulous depth. Hints of orange peel, mint, cinnamon and cranberry add further shades of nuance on the complete, beautifully articulated finish.

Taittinger's 2006 Comtes de Champagne Rosé blends Pinot Noir and Chardonnay with 16% red wine, mainly from Bouzy. Lovely, pure and fresh on the nose, with spicy sweet cherry aromas and red berry flavors, this is a rich and potent, full-bodied and firmly structured Rosé with nice purity and freshness. The finish reveals a sweet intensity and good length.

Gun powder and forest floor aromas; agrume and spice on the palate. The mouthfeel is broad and creamy with vestigial fruit that is Autumnal in its charm

100% grand cru vineyards. Pinot Noir from Bouzy. Chardonnay from: Avize, Chouilly, Le Mesnil-sur-Oger, Oger. 70% Pinot Noir, 30% Chardonnay and 15% red wine. Eight years' ageing on lees. Disgorged 16 December 2015. Dosage 9 g/l. Tasted blind. Pale orangey copper. Some dry phenolic finish but there is lots of round, sweet fruit in the middle. Less lively than the other rosé champagnes but definitely richer, even though the end is definitely dry. Interesting wine! (JR)
