Tasting Notes and Scores

95 JC

Tasted from magnum (not blind), the 2001 Chateauneuf du Pape les Hautes Brusquieres Cuvee Speciale continues to drink magnificently. Made by Michel Maret (the father of Véronique and Caroline, who run the estate now), it came out of the bottle with a rather restrained bouquet but then blossomed into waves of silky cherries on the full-bodied palate and continued into hints of mocha and licorice on the lingering finish. Plush and expansive, it tastes like it could go another decade out of magnum, but I suspect regular bottles should be consumed soon.
