Brilliantly coloured, transparent. A little grilled note to the cherry, berry fruits with a salty, savoury finish. Medium-bodied, fresh, long and all very harmonious. Still needs another year or two to fully open out, but it's enjoyable already. A very well-balanced vintage, if not endlessly deep like the 2016, sturdy but not stiff, just a little austere.

Opaque ruby. An intensely perfumed bouquet evokes spicy dark berries and potpourri, with zesty mineral and incense qualities adding complexity. Pliant boysenberry and candied lavender flavors are impressively fresh and focused, with a hint of licorice adding depth. Closes sweet, supple and broad, with resonating spiciness and gentle tannins that add shape and grip.
