Vivid ruby. Strikingly complex, expansive aromas of raspberry and blackberry, garrigue and brown spices. Open-knit red fruit flavors are concentrated but in no way heavy, with a bracing mineral quality adding spine. The finish is sweet, broad and very persistent. This cuvee was previously called "Reserve."

Blackish purple. Light, refined nose. A little animal and then rather light and soft for a Châteauneuf. Very pleasant wine for earlyish drinking. Tastes like the offcuts from a Cuvée Speciale rather than an expression in its own right? (JR)
