Tasting Notes and Scores
A super elegant Auslese that balances exactly the creamy and racy aspects of nobly sweet riesling, in a way that anybody who doesn't hate sweetness (e.g. rejection of sugar in espresso) will have no problem enjoying! What beautiful, peach-compote character and what a graceful finish! Drink or hold.

The 2019 Riesling Auslese Rosalack shows an intense white-golden color and offers a concentrated and spicy/flinty stone-fruit bouquet with coolish, crystalline terroir aromas. Dense and lush on the palate, this textured and generous Auslese develops good density and a sustainable finish. The acidity is fine and well integrated into rich and juicy fruit. Pretty sweet but also piquant. 8% alcohol. Tasted at Schloss Gobelsburg in July 2021.

The first thing that the Rosalack Auslese teaches you is that it is far more fascinating to be enticed to explore fragrant diversity than having a bucket of fruit chucked at your nose. As you keep inhaling, subtle aromas of honey and cinnamon join the fruity fray. Richer and more luscious than the Spätlese, the ripe fruit includes peach, apricot and nectarine, still able to express their aromatic character rather than being overwhelmed by sweet opulence. Spice is finely poised and keeps you wondering whether it is cinnamon or ginger, but leaves you in no doubt that it adds complexity to generosity. Drink 2020 – 2035.
