Tasting Notes and Scores
The 2000 Barolo Percristina has held up well. It shows considerable freshness in its dark red fruit, leather, licorice and sweet spices. The French oak remains very much present. It's hard to see the fruit lasting long enough for the oak to every truly integrate. June 2011

2000 Barolo Percristina—Rich ruby. This bottle of the 2000 Percristina is the most convincing of the three I have tasted so far. The wine offers intense, exotic sensations of super-ripe fruit, menthol, and minerals, with an opulent open-knit personality and superb persistence on the palate. Hard to resist now, but it will be even better in a few years. A super effort. 93/drink after 2011, 10/05 (93)
Wine Advocate
The most complex today on the nose of Clerico's three 2000 Barolos, with notes of smoky red fruits and nuts. Sweet, smooth and seamless, with a glyceral texture that really captures the richness of the vintage. Highly concentrated wine but without the sheer verve and grip of the '99. Finishes with big, rich tannins and impressive length. Nov 2004
Wine Independent
Dark ruby color, with fabulous aromas of blackberries, toasted oak and cedar. Turns to fresh herbs and wild berries. Full-bodied, with big, velvety tannins and lots of ripe fruit. Amazing finish of toasted oak. The greatest wine ever from Clerico. First made in 1995. Breathtaking. Best after 2010. 470 cases made. –JS
