Tasting Notes and Scores
The 2012 Kepos is magnificent. Dark red cherry, pomegranate, plum, spices and leather notes meld together in a vibrant, beautiful wine loaded with class and depth. The flavors are bright, focused and wonderfully delineated in this super-expressive, supple coastal red. What a gorgeous wine this is. Kepos is 40% Grenache, 40% Mourvedre, 10% Carignane, 5% Alicante Bouschet and 5% Marsellan.

Deep ruby-red. Perfumed aromas of ripe dark cherry, pomegranate and musky sweet spices. Bright and energetic despite its size, offering supple, rich red fruit and sweet spice flavors that linger long on the velvety aftertaste. Maybe the best Kepos ever.

I had high expectations for the 2012 Kepos. This blend of Grenache, Mourvedre, Carignano Alicante and Marselan showed a quickly changing bouquet with some background volatility in the form of cherry skin or red apple. The bouquet lacks total focus and I would not recommend holding on to this bottle more than a couple of years.
