Wine from Tuscany, the finest wines in Italy.
Sangiovese is the beating heart of Tuscany and forms the basis of its most popular and famous wines including Chianti and Brunello di Montalcino; it creates wines of bright acidity and resonant bitter cherry characters which can be enjoyed young or aged in oak for a more complex, long-lived wine.
In recent years, we have also seen the rise of ‘Super Tuscans’ producing stars such as Sassicaia and Tignanello from the more coastal Bolgheri region. This appellation benefits from more flexible rules around planting, which allows DOC classified wines to be made from non-indigenous grape varieties – the most popular of which are Cabernet Sauvignon, Cabernet Franc and Merlot.
