With less Cabernet Sauvignon in the blend this year, the 2011 Bolgheri Rosso Villa Donoratico shows ripe density with pretty layers of cherry, coffee, sweet spice and clove. This easygoing Tuscan red glides smoothly over the palate with plush tannins. The wine is composed of 30% Cabernet Sauvignon, 30% Cabernet Franc, 25% Merlot and 15% Petit Verdot.

30% Cabernet Sauvignon, 30% Merlot, 25% Cabernet Franc, 15% Petit Verdot. Impenetrable crimson. Really holding back with only a little oak evident on the nose. Supple dark fruit, but so very closed. Firm liquorice tannins in need of more bottle age. (WS)
