Tasting Notes and Scores
(5.9 g/l total acidity, 3.29 pH, 27.3 g/l dry extract, 13.9% alcohol): Bright, deep red. Explosively perfumed aromas of redcurrant, red cherry, yellow plum, violet, minerals and licorice on the captivating nose. Powerful, superconcentrated and seamless, with superb inner-mouth perfume and energy to the underbrush, sweet spice and white stone fruit flavors. Very full and sophisticated on the long finish, which boasts a seamless texture and uncommon flavor complexity. This is still amazingly young and built for the long haul. A absolutely superb wine from one of the greatest Brunello vintages of all time. This also spent 48 months in large oak cask. Ian D'Agata Oct 2013

The 1999 was a very classic vintage and one for the long haul in Tuscany. The season was regular with a mild autumn giving optimal conditions when waiting for the Sangiovese to reach perfect ripeness for picking. This has restrained and vibrant raspberry fruit alongside liquorice and tobacco that is loaded with firm yet velvety tannins and zesty acidity. A chalky finish, which is a bit more austere than some of the others, is enhanced by blackberry flavours and earthy tones. Drinking Window: 2021 - 2030
