Tasting Notes and Scores
The 2006 Cabernet Sauvignon Sancerbone is made from the estate's best vines and aged for 14 months in French oak. Here the fruit is darker, and the wine possesses an extra dimension of textural richness and weight. Dark plums, black cherries, grilled herbs and minerals all flow from this sumptuous, dark Cabernet Sauvignon. The tannins are ripe, silky and polished, especially for such a big wine. Ideally there might be more varietal character, but this is a young property and that should come with time. The wine's balance and harmony are those of a potentially first-class wine. There is clearly something special here, and frankly, I will be disappointed if this estate doesn't challenge some of the leading properties in this part of Tuscany within a few years.
