Tasting Notes and Scores
Depths of wild berries, blackberries, licorice and exotic spices swirl up from the 2018 Rosso di Montalcino. Here I’m finding the silkiest of textures with a black tea twang that leads into herbal-tinged red fruits, all enlivened by zesty acids and a balanced inner sweetness. Nuances of violet, sweet lavender and candied ginger linger long on this opulent yet nicely balanced Rosso. It’s so sad to think that this is the last official vintage of the Rosso, which was sourced from throughout the Salicutti vineyards. Time in bottle has worked wonders for the 2018. EG
