Tasting Notes and Scores
The 2015 Le Difese is bright, gracious and nicely lifted, with a good bit of aromatic kick and lift from both the Sangiovese and the decision to pick the Cabernets on the early side. Fresh and aromatically expressive, the 2015 is very pretty. Sweet floral and berry fruit flavors abound in this refreshing, mid-weight Tuscan red from Tenuta San Guido. A dollop of Cabernet Franc adds perfume.
Antonio Galloni
Tight and delicious with currant and blackberry character. Hints of spice and berry. Medium body and a lively finish. Savory at the end. Drink or hold.
James Suckling
Juicy and bursting with dark berry fruit, this red is balanced and enticing. Blackberry, black currant and violet flavors are backed by lively acidity and firm tannins. Drink now through 2019. 500 cases imported. (BS)
Wine Spectator
The 2015 Le Difese (Cabernet Sauvignon and Sangiovese) offers a smooth and symmetrical interpretation of the vintage with bright fruit flavors of forest berry and wild cherry backed by mild spice and grilled herb. This is an informal and moderately concentrated effort that sports fresh appeal and good acidity. It would make a great pairing partner to a hearty home-cooked pasta dish.
