Tasting Notes and Scores
Bright red berries, tobacco, smoke, incense and orange peel take shape in the 2008 Brunello di Montalcino. The most vibrant and chiseled of the three vintages I tasted on this trip, the 2008 is really starting to blossom nicely. The 2008 can be enjoyed today or cellared. There is a lot to look forward to here, that much is obvious.

(13.5% alcohol): Bright red. Enticing aromas of sour red cherry, minerals, porcini and aromatic spices. Quite fresh in the mouth, with seamless flavors of sour red cherry and berries lifted by bright acidity and nicely framed by ripe tannins. Finishes savory and extremely long, with a repeating note of porcini and a complicating hint of vanilla.
