Perhaps the best news for consumers is there is very little qualitative difference between the estate’s more modestly-priced wines and the high-end bottlings, something that is typical of quite a few properties in Maremma in 2007. (100% syrah) Deep inky ruby. Complex nose melds the olive aromas of Crozes-Hermitage with the black pepper of Cote-Rotie, plus the superripe, almost roasted red fruits typical of the Suvereto area. Less powerful in the mouth than the nose suggests, with flavors of candied red fruits, dried herbs and bacon. Finishes broad and creamy, with ultra-smooth tannins and a saline nuance. Probably the best syrah ever made at Tua Rita.
