Tasting Notes and Scores
Although it was impossible to discover exactly when this Terrantez was bottled, either in 1948 or later in 1962, this nevertheless constitutes a wonderful, albeit eccentric Madeira. It has a deep toffee hue. The nose is quite astonishing and as my neighbor commented, it smelled exactly like the black currant fruit drink of “Ribena”! It has fine definition and comes across as feminine and elegant. The palate has a sweet, slightly medicinal entry and is very smooth and harmonious, although I would have liked more depth and structure. It is less oxidative than some of its coeval peers, with that black currant leaf note returning towards the finish.
