Tasting Notes and Scores
This specimen of the 1905 Verdelho Reserva was a little overtly volatile on the nose, at the expense of an otherwise compelling bouquet of dried fruits, spices, honeycomb and dates that could clearly score very highly in its own right. Deep, full-bodied and layered, the wine is satiny and concentrated, with real intensity and class on the palate, but the volatile acidity returns on the finish. I hesitate to venture a score in case this is merely an imperfect sample, as the underlying wine appears to have considerable potential.

Mid mahogany colour. Elegantly nutty, refined nose. Very charming. Then an amazingly savoury fresh strike on the palate. Wonderfully demanding and refined. I could hardly bear to spit. Great tension on the finish. (JH)
