Tasting Notes and Scores
Woodsy and introspective, the 2019 dark red Pinot Noir Highland Close is lush with aromas of pine, gravelly earth, cracked pepper, black cherry liqueur, and anise. Full-bodied, it fills the palate with generous ripe fruit that lifts cleanly off the long finish, with sweet tannins and a supple, spherical mouthfeel. It’s going to take time to shed its baby fat and lean into its mineral accents, but it should have a long drinking window. Drink 2025-2040.

95pts Audrey Frick, Jeb Dunnuck.com From the Less Stevens Vineyard and pouring a nearly opaque red, the 2019 Pinot Noir Hopewell Hills is woodsy with aromas of sandalwood, kirsch, moss-covered earth, and fresh leather. Medium to full-bodied, it takes on crunchy fruit, with snappy fresh acidity and an orange citrus-tinged finish. It’s elegant and long on the palate and will do well with another year or two in bottle. Drink 2025-2040.

Delicate blackberry liqueur and violets with rocky, volcanic scents. Floral and rosy with a gentle sweetness to the plush dark cherry on the nose. Rounder, more viscous and textured than Chehalem Highlands on the palate. Despite the ripeness of the fruit on the nose, the palate is dry and savoury. The texture is like thick, soft cotton at high thread count. Cola notes develop as it opens. This wine dances across the palate – lithe and ethereal. Incredible.
