Now it looks like an absolute bargain as the quality is so amazing; let's not forget this is from the family that make Clos Apalta, a multiple 100-pt wines from nearby vineyards. Lapostolle Wines was founded by Alexandra Marnier Lapostolle and her husband Cyril de Bournet in 1994. After visiting Chile, Alexandra and Cyril not only fell in love with the Colchagua Valley, they also saw the huge potential of the area for producing top quality wine thanks to the geographical location and climate. In the creation of Lapostelle wines the family's aim is as simple as it is ambitious: to create world class wines using the French experience and the magnificent terroirs of Chile. The Apalta Vineyard is located in the wine-producing region of Colchagua Valley, 200 km south-west of Santiago, 68 km away from the Pacific Ocean, between the Andes mountain range and the coastal cordillera. Apalta is nestled between the Tinguiririca River, a tributary of the Rapel River, and cordons of the Coastal Cordillera that ends in a horseshoe shape. The positioning of the vineyard not only enjoys fantastic sunshine but also allows excess heat to escape, a huge benefit for an area home to a hot climate. They own 370 hectares in three different vineyards (Casablanca, Cachapoal and Colchagua) and produce a total of 200,000 cases annually. Under the dedicated vision of Alexandra and Cyril, Lapostolle Wines has been a pioneer in the wine industry in Chile and today its wines continue to elevate the region through the production of premium wines, with a strong emphasis on sustainability.
