Loads of great, old-school charm here. The bright red fruits have lift, definition and a crisp, peppered edge. The wine is complicated with nuances of lead pencil, forest floor, cigar box, tobacco, ash and green leafy aromas. The finish lingers with its sweet, ripe, red fruits. Well-stored bottles are worth seeking out. Tasted April 2022

Mature red-amber color. Developed aromas of singed plum, roasted cherry, currant, tobacco, marzipan and chocolate. Fat, rich and complex in the mouth, with lovely sweetness leavened by firm acids. Fully evolved but still fresh. Very solidly structured wine but perhaps beginning to lose its grip on the end.

Lots of evolution at the rim, quite a pale ruby. Light nose but deliciously fragrant nose. Quite dried out but true to appellation. But light and old, drying out. Acidity becoming dominant. Still some tannin, amazingly! Lovely nose with some liquorice and firmness. (JR)
