Tasting Notes and Scores
Racy and firm with silky tannins and juicy fruit. Medium to full body and chocolate and spice flavors underpin the juicy fruit. - March 2017
James Suckling
From the northern reaches of the Medoc, this is owned and produced by the team at Cos d'Estournel. Quite funky, mineral, characterful, nicely fruited. Quite plump in the mouth and tannins relatively robust. Simple but pleasant. - April 2017
Bordeaux Index
The 2016 Goulee, from team "Cos d'Estournel" is a blend of 77% Merlot, 18% Cabernet Sauvignon and 5% Cabernet Franc and was picked from 28 September to 15 October. It has a clean and precise blackcurrant and graphite tinged bouquet, not as intense as previous vintages that I have tasted such as 2009 and 2010, but very well delineated. The palate is medium-bodied with a very Pauillac-like opening thanks to that vein of pencil lead. Fine acidity here, moderate depth with a gentle grip on the graphite-tinged finish. This is better than the 2015 Goulée that I tasted last year and is very promising for when it is finally bottled. - Wine Advocate #230, April 2017
