Tasting Notes and Scores
As always, there is an elegance to the La Fleur de Gay, but the tell-tale flowery, raspberry jam, and blueberry pie notes jump from the glass along with hints of graphite and truffle. Deep, rich, full-bodied and textured, with sweet tannin and a stunning elegance and purity, this beauty that can be approached now or cellared for 20-25 years.

Wine Advocate
Served blind at the Southwold 2009 tasting. The La Fleur de Gay exhibits more pronounced oak on the nose compared to its peers, but it is in synch with the fruit and is well defined. The palate is medium-bodied with sappy black cherry and sloes. It shows fine clarity and finesse with a sensual, harmonious finish. Delicious, but not that much further ahead than La Croix-de-Gay at the moment. Tasted January 2013.
