Tasting Notes and Scores
The 2005 Château Poujeaux has quite a pronounced undergrowth element on the nose, with blackberry, cedar and wet tobacco scents developing in the glass. The palate is rounded on the entry, a voluminous Poujeaux with fine tannin, crisp acidity and a judicious touch of white pepper and tobacco towards the finish. Great length here - probably just entering its drinking plateau now.

Dark red; crisply ripe red fruit nose; medium fully, fresh and gently tannic, a delicious early maturity balance; plenty of appetizing sweet fruit, a subtle Médoc gravel aroma, a nice generosity of flavour, and excellent length. Delicious, a really lovely Cru Bourgeois for drinking now. Now â 2022+ Star value.

This deep ruby/purple-tinged sleeper of the vintage exhibits fresh, lively minerality intermixed with delicate background wood, sweet raspberry fruit, medium to full body, zesty acidity, and ripe tannin. Usually the top wine from Moulis, Poujeauxâs 2005 is again a fairly priced, impressive effort. Anticipated maturity: 2012-2025.
