Part of Best St-Estephe 2020 wines tasted en primeur

Delicious, this is a great Tronquoy, full of bright berry fruits. Pretty intense, and swaggering in its tannins, austere and bedded down right now but well held together, with the walls and floors of a solidly-constructed Cabernet wine that is going to age well. A yield of 29hl/ha, with a little more Cabernet Sauvignon than usual in the blend. Harvest September 11th to 28th. Here they got 60mm of rain in both August and September.

Drinking Window 2024 - 2040

Blackcurrant and marked mineral impressions on the nose; fairly full, fairly concentrated, fresh to crisp in acidity, very fine in tannin, a lovely balance; rich, elegant, blackcurrant Cabernet flavored wine, fine-grained, beautifully proportioned, long and close-textured for its status, with very good fruit-cored lenth. Classic claret! 52% Merlot, 42% Cabernet Sauvignon, 6% Petit Verdot. Cask sample.
Vibrant fruit with a freshness to the tannins. Oak imposes at present but the wine maintains its juicy nature. Should make a satisfying drink. (JL)
