Fermented in 350-litre oak, 20% new (he never goes above 35%). Vines 85 years old. Deep soils just below Bâtard so the vines do not suffer in dry years. Mid slope. Barrel sample. Super-creamy and leesy on the nose. Gorgeous lemon and lime and just a hint of toast but not oaky. Perfectly seasoned. Power and richness on the palate but no fat. Lithe rather than lean, and so persistent. Smoky in the empty glass. Salivating. Very long. (JH)
