Tasting Notes and Scores

93 NM

The 2017 Corton-Charlemagne Grand Cru is simple on the nose, revealing touches of brioche and orange zest, though it needs a little more finesse. The palate is well balanced with tangy orange zest on the entry, one of the spicier contributions from this Grand Cru, but maintaining decent poise and delineation toward the finish, and leaving a tang of marmalade on the aftertaste. This improves in the glass. Tasted blind at the annual Burgfest tasting in Savigny-lès-Beaune.

92 WK

The 2017 Corton-Charlemagne Grand Cru is showing well, offering up aromas of citrus oil, Anjou pear, hazelnut cream and fresh pastry, followed by a medium to full-bodied, elegantly textural palate that's lively and quite tight knit, with creditable concentration, racy acids and a precise finish. This can't match the depth and dimension of the house's "Récolte du Domaine" bottlings, but it's a fine effort that should develop well in the cellar. It was bottled under Diam 10.
