Tasting Notes and Scores
Similar colored, the 2017 Cornas Granit 60 comes from further up the slope and older vines. It offers a deeper, richer bouquet of black and blue fruits, smoked earth, violets, and ground pepper. Deep, full-bodied, thrillingly pure and elegant, yet still with classic Cornas density, power, and length, it's another gem of a wine from this incredibly talented winemaker.

Inky ruby. Smoke-accented dark berries and cherry liqueur on the highly perfumed nose. Juicy and seamless in texture, offering appealingly sweet blackberry and boysenberry flavors underscored by a smoky mineral quality. Fine-grained tannins build steadily on a long, floral-tinged finish that leaves a salty olive note behind. JR
Antonio Galloni
Another terrific vintage of this wine, the 2017 Cornas Granit 60 features knockout aromas of crushed stone, blueberry and plum. On the palate, it's medium to full-bodied, with juicy, mouthwatering fruit complemented by firm tannins. Admirably clean and pure, it should require a couple of years of cellaring, then drink well for the next decade or so. JC
Wine Advocate
50-year-old vines planted on a 60° granitic slope provide the fruit for this wine. It's 30% whole-bunch fermented with indigenous yeasts, then matured for 16 months in oak barrels of two to eight years of age. The wine is full, flowing and generous, very ripe and very long in fruit. It has a good sense of purity and is really concentrated, with a herbal twang on the finish and a saline, refreshing edge. Thirst-quenching and precise if very ripe. Drinking Window: 2019 - 2024
