An opaque core with limpid ruby rim. The nose is very dense, much more introverted than the nineties Crofts and the alcohol more integrated into bouquet. The palate is full-bodied, very firm in structure with a little more austerity than usual. Very good delineation although it does not quite have the exuberance or the flamboyance of the vivacious ’94. Conservative and foursquare towards the finish with an attractive hint of blood orange on the aftertaste. Good length. Very backward and primal at the moment so leave 15 to 20-years, preferably more.Tasted November 2007.

A striking, individualistic nose of spring flowers, blackberries, blueberries, and lead pencil shavings emerges from this saturated purple-colored 2000. Evolved yet expansive, sweet, and generous, it admirably conceals moderately high tannins under a wealth of fruit and glycerin. The aromatic profile and attack merit a score in the mid-nineties, but the finish is short, thus lowering the overall rating.
