Tasting Notes and Scores
The 1996 Vina Tondonia Blanco Reserva offers dried honey, lemon curd, tangerine and honeysuckle on the nose. The palate is crisp and honeyed on the entry, counterbalanced by its racy acidity, leading towards a waxy textured finish with subtle almond and dried pineapple notes lingering long in the mouth. Superb.

Bright gold. Dried pear, melon, beeswax, chamomile and honey on the intensely perfumed nose. Deeply pitched orchard and citrus fruit flavors are sharpened by juicy acidity and complicated by notes of fresh fig and mace. Juicy, penetrating and spicy on the finish, which leaves mineral and orange pith notes behind. This wine should reward extended cellaring.

(aged for six years in American oak barrels and then held in bottle for at least five years before release) Bright yellow-gold. Dried pear, peach pit, vanilla, marzipan and toasted brioche on the deeply perfumed, expansive nose. Chewy, densely packed and focused, offering bitter pear skin, hazelnut and anise flavors and a refreshingly bitter hint of lemon pith. Stretches out slowly with air and finishes spicy, smoky and very long, with repeating anise and pear notes and dry, minerally cut. This complex wine benefits a lot from aeration.
