The 2019 Cabernet Sauvignon Pircas from Huelquén, Paine, was 50% aged in new barrels. Garnet red in hue with a clearly defined, complex, fruity nose of sour cherry, black currant and bay leaf against a backdrop of mint and oak. In the mouth, it’s juicy with good grip and the rounded tannins that come with the variety. The sustained, compact finish offers a delicious whiff of bitterness. This will grow in the bottle.
