Tasting Notes and Scores
Woodsy and slightly smoky in the glass, the 2021 Rosso di Montalcino from Salvioni wafts up with a savory bouquet, mixing rosemary with fresh-picked raspberry, ground ginger and sage. It opens with a lovely inner sweetness and juicy acidity, all balanced by masses of tart wild berry fruit and licorice traces that saturate the palate with youthful concentration. While structured, its tannins are perfectly formed and harmonious, creating a tactile framework as hints of violet pastille slowly taper off. The 2021 is simply stunning, balancing warm vintage fruit against a core of boundless energy. Frankly, it's hard to stop at one glass. EG Dec 2023
